Tonight is Dale's opening night on the mainstage at Second City. When we were just starting out, we used to go see the Second City shows and we'd delight in how great our careers were going to be when we were that famous... we'd cheer "LEE SMART ROCKS!" every night, and talk endlessly about our fledgling careers.
I wish I could be there in person tonight, but I know she knows I'm there in spirit! (Well, the giant ambush of flowers in the dressing room couldn't have hurt either. :D) Also, to have seen the show in previews, and realize what a gem Dale has become as a performer - well, it made my heart soar.
I'm lucky to have such a great friend; I'm luckier to have had such a great friend for ten years, and I'm luckiest to have such a great friend who has become exactly what she wanted to become.
I am SO proud.
